I'm pleased to announce that the forum now has its own arcade system that can be accessed through the link shown above.
It has lots of features designed to keep you entertained including high scores and Tournaments. So now if its raining and you don't fancy going caching you have something else to do.
Don't let the boss catch you whiling away the working day though ;)

No problem, I will try to add some more games to it in the near future.
Ian
The arcade has a tournament feature. I have set up the first GAGB Arcade Tournament and its for playing Space Invaders. There are seven more slots available before the tournament starts so get your name down for it today. To join in simply go into the arcade and look for the Tournament link.

Hmmm...
Elections looming...
You're standing as a candidate...
An attempt to buy votes?
It's worked, I vote for you to run the country! :D

Nice one! :applause:LOL do you accept cash or cheque?
In all seriousness though I am just trying to make the place a bit more fun and trying to find ways of keeping people here - not against their will of course. The arcade has the added benefit of allowing me to skive at work ;)
Have you signed up for the Space Invaders Tournament yet?

Great new feature, with some of my favourite games in there.:socool:
I also like the way the pinned topics have been highlighted, thus making it easier to distinguish between pinned and new topics.

Do you want to play a game of Global Thermonuclear War?
Said in my best Stephen Hawkins voice ;)
In an effort to stop anyone doing anything remotely usefull with their lives, I have added some more games to the arcade so there are 17 on there now.

Just had a quick go at the Penguin game - good fun! I also looked at the Othello game but couldn't see an instructions on how to play it... am I missing something somewhere? :)

Unfortunately I don't know how to play othello but if someone could pm me with a concise set of bullet point rules I can add it to the games instructions. Glad you liked the Penguin game Mrs. B.

I wanna play :(
Can see:
https://www.gagb.org.uk/forums/arcade.php?
But when I click on any of the games eg.
https://www.gagb.org.uk/forums/arcade.php?&act=Arcade&do=play&gameid=16
I get:
The administrator has disabled viewing of the arcade for your member group. If you feel this is a mistake please PM an administrator and let them know.

I get:Sometimes the arcade system looks at how long your session has been and treats you as if you've logged out. Simply re-login and tick the remember me check box to be able to get in and play everything.
The arcade is set up to only allow registered users of the forum to play on the arcade and so when it treats you as logged out you get that message. I am trying to look for a solution to this.

Any chance of pac-man :dunno:If I can find a licenced copy that I can use I'll get it installed. I am limited to the games that I can put up for copyright reasons. I'll see what I can do.

Hi there,
The objectives for Othello ( off the top of my head) are to place a counter either side of the opponents counter and then to turn the counter over to become your colour. Sounds easy?
The computerised game is slightly easier than the board version in that the computer turns over ALL the counters that are valid, in the "real" game you may miss some, The downside is that the computer picks up all theirs too!
Good luck Mrs B!

It's years since I played the game, but I think that's pretty much it, except that you can place a counter such as to have one of yours at each end of a row of your opponent's counters, then that whole row gets flipped over to your colour. And horizontals, verticals and diagonals all count, so you can flip more than one row at a time.

Thanks Fred,
These games should be banned or my firewall updated to not let me in... they are just too much of a temptation...

Next question - How can I train my penguin to waddle over to his right if I just happen to build his ice bridge over to one side? The silly bird has no sense...

You can't, he has to start where he stands and finish at the "Goal".

Nice... I like the way the Penguin is a MALE because he's stubborn! Did you spot you can throw snowballs back at the other penguin? Based on the fact the penguin misses everytime I assumed it was FEMALE because it obviously throws like a girl  :)

I thought I would come and see what all the fuss was about but I don't seem able to get any of the arcade games to run under Firefox :(.
I have NoScript but have given GAGB full permission. When I click on the game I just get a black box.:dunno:
They will run under IE (I have to log in again) but I get logged out if I try to save a high score:confused:
