I'm on the official software version 2.8 but Garmin have released a new beta version of 2.98 (which includes a GPS Software Version 3.40).

Anyone use the beta versions?

If so what are your experiences and would you recommend using them?

I downloaded the beta yesterday morning and so far it's been fine - I like the new features to search for caches and couldn't resist adding some startup text, will be using it much more over the B/H weekend

Lots of good stuff in this update so I've downloaded to my Oregon. A quick check appears OK, so will use this weekend.

I've been using this update over the weekend. I've had a couple of crashes although a reset brought everything back. The new cache search feature is useful and a welcome addition. The 3D feature seemed to struggle, I suspect this ready gives the processor a workout. didn't get a chance to try the man overboard feature, none of the kids would co-operate :dunno:

On balance some good features but as yet unstable.
