As the subject title really!

Do they get reset or revert back to something older on a regular basis?

I'm a bit of an Mahjong addict but have noticed that my score regularly goes back to an older one.

... not that I'm in it for the numbers but ... :p

I don't use the Arcade myself, and I'm not very familiar with the Arcade admin stuff, but as far as I can see only a user's highest score is saved.

That's right Bill but I've noticed that my score regularly goes back to a lower one??

I've just posted a score of 2106 for 3rd place, we'll see how long it stays there for.

Actually there is something a little odd ...

If you look at the Mahjong highest scores on the main Arcade page it says "Orchards Finest with a score of 2,316" yet if you click the [View High Scores] link it shows Orchards Finests No.1 score as 2276.

Hmm, I can't explain that, I'm afraid. I've been through the Arcade admin settings, and as far as I can see all is as it should be.

See Studleyone's post in 2008 ... when the same question was asked:

The arcade automatically slices off I think 5 or 10% of all the scores on a Sunday to keep things competitive. The highest scores of all time remain though so if you get an all time high your names will be up in lights forever (or until you get thrashed ;) )

The arcade does this so that the place remains competitive, allowing the beginners a shot at the title. Just play it again to get an even higher score.
