This is to announce the launch of the latest coin from the South Wales Geocachers community, the South Wales Golfer's Geocoin. Released to celebrate the fact that the Ryder Cup is coming later on this year (2010) to Wales for the first time, to the fabulous Celtic Manor resort near Newport.

There are two varieties - Antique Silver (top) and Satin Nickel.
On the front, there is an image of a golfer in full swing, accompanied by representations of the American and European flags and the text "The City of Newport Welcomes the Ryder Cup to Wales". The tail side has a representation of a golf ball (quite convincing and changes its appearance considerably, depending on lighting angle).
This coin has been produced to raise money for South Wales events, including the South Wales Mega Event which takes place in Swansea next year. For those collecting Mega event coins, although it's not officially a Mega Event coin, this is the second of a series of coins that will be released by us as a community leading up to the Mega event next year - and is issued with trackable numbers beginning with the WA prefix (as opposed to PC for personal coin) to represent Wales.
Currently, our online shop is under development but in the meantime, this coin can be ordered for £8.50 per coin at:

You may also be able to combine your order with our other coin released this year - the South Wales Miner's Protector Lamp.
