Fences should never be crossed (other than through a gate or by a stile) when placing or seeking a cache.
This guideline recently caused a problem for MrsB and I because we found the stile.... but no fence.... so MrsB felt it best to be on the safe side and use it....

It was better to be on the safe side, it could have been one of those invisible fences AND it may even have been an electric one:dunno: or infra red, who knows.

I think I would have used the stile too - just because it was there! :D

Trying very hard to resist the urge to make a comment with:
"Spring Chicken"
or
"No Spring Chicken"
in it...
Sorry!

You can go off people, y'know?
I thought about entering it in the January photo comp which has a theme of "Animals" this month: You see that strange, vaguely rabbit-shaped thing on the stile? Yes, it's a strangely-shaped toy rabbit with its stuffing hanging out. It looks like it's been there about 5 years. I suspect even the local buzzards have had a peck at it and given it up as a very dead loss.

Well that is such a classic - we teach the youngster's about country code and I can imagine their arguments not to use the Stile.. :socool:
Thankyou

we have come across a couple of these and a few gates with no fence and we always make sure that we use them in the correct manner

This brings to mind an image of a cross country race, with the runners all grinding to a halt whilst they queue to climb the stile... :p :D

Aside from guidelines for placing caches, I must confess to blatant disregard for the guidelines for seeking caches, in selfish pursuit of my longest caching streak.
The guidelines say "leave no trace", but I really could not be bothered covering my tracks in the snow :o though I did generally lob a couple of snowballs at the cache location after rehiding it to make it look less disturbed :D
