When were you thinking of? The Kent Mega has avoided clashing with 'Mega Classic' and Piratemania by being early in the year, and the Halloween Mega has its own regular October spot. The Geolympix returns (perhaps as a Giga?) at the end of July 2016 so you'll need to pick your moment with care. Other up-coming UK Mega events include Essex at the start of August next year, and North Wales around the same time in 2016. Good luck with the project!

Ermm Yorkshire proudly lead the way, with a huge step into the unknown

7 months from the idea being mooted until the very first Mega Event in the UK

Without those Yorkshire pioneers the other 15 Listed and future Mega Events in the UK, might not have taken place. Because that small few, showed it was possible to hold a Mega Event in the UK. Gaining a amazing attendance of over 900 Geocachers

Points to remember, Groundspeak, have made major changes the the Awarding of Mega Status, and they are now looking at events growing into Mega Events, on their second or third year

So you can organise a Event, which has no Guarantee of Mega status, in it's first year.

Alternatively, your free to form a Committee and submit a request for the Annual UK Mega Event Account [a name phrased by SP ] for 2017, which as a Legacy Mega Event Account [This year will be it's 7th Mega Event, held under the account] does guarantee Mega Status.

Another point to remember, Groundspeak will not award Mega Status to a Event, which clashes with another event at the same time in the same regional area, which has been awarded Mega Status, due to a conflict of interest between the 2 events.

And as for Giga status, a Event already has to have reached Mega Status, to cross over into Giga Status, so high chance of first year events being awarded Giga status is slim.

Even in the US, they do not believe that there is a Mega Event there, ready to go Giga , and they have Mega Events with 3,000+ Attendee's

But as those Yorkshire Pioneers proved, anything is possible
