All GAGB members prior to 1st October 2014 are eligible, and encouraged, to participate (stand, nominate or vote).

There shall be two elections, first for the position of Chairman and then for the eight Committee Member posts.

Nominations may be made in the relevant thread (a new thread will be opened) in this GAGB forum during the advertised nomination period. Each nomination must be seconded and accepted by the nominee within that same period in order to be valid. Nominee manifestos will then be posted in the GAGB forums and on the ballot so you may read about why each candidate is standing for election and the skills they would bring to the Committee if elected.

The dates are listed in the opening post above this.

Where nominations exceed vacancies, election shall be by ballot and will be run by Michael Malvick (Ladybug Kids), who is returning as our Independent Returning Officer for the 5th year.

Mike is currently serving as Secretary of GeocacheAlaska (http://www.geocachealaska.org/)!, the non-profit geocaching organization for the state of Alaska that fosters geocacher education and land manager advocacy. He is also a Volunteer Reviewer for Groundspeak, reviewing caches for Alaska and Hawaii as Greatland Reviewer and EarthCaches for Alaska, Hawaii and elsewhere as needed as GeoawareUSA4. He has also in the past reviewed EarthCaches in the UK.

SurveyMonkey.com will again generate the ballot. This streamlines ballot counting and adds a layer of confidentiality between the Returning Officer and those who vote. You will be sent an e-mail with a unique link to the ballot, so please make sure your e-mail address on the GAGB forum (UserCP) is current.

Ladybug Kids will make an announcement in this forum after the e-mails have gone out so you can check your spam filter, etc., in case you don't receive the link to the ballot.

He may also send reminder and announcement emails which may be sent from his personal email, so please look out for the following email addresses.

"ladybugs at geocachealaska.org via surveymonkey.com" <member at surveymonkey.com>

“Ladybugs at geocachealaska.org”

("at" replaces "@" in the above addresses to keep the text from appearing as links)

Please visit this forum to keep up to date with all the election news and also monitor the GAGB Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/TheGAGB)and Twitter (https://twitter.com/TheGAGB) for updates and announcements.

The ballots for the 2014/15 Committee Election were sent via SurveyMonkey a short time ago to all GAGB members of record as of 1st October 2014.

Before you open your ballot, you may visit a special “GAGB Elections” board in the GAGB forums at https://www.gagb.org.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=53 to read the candidates' responses to questions posed to them. You are also encouraged to reread the candidate manifestos because one was been updated since the original posting following discovery of omitted material due to a copy and paste error.

Each ballot is tied to an e-mail address, so please do not forward the ballot e-mail to anyone else. Only one vote per ballot is allowed by SurveyMonkey.

The ballot "From" line reads: "ladybugs at geocachealaska.org via surveymonkey.com" <member at surveymonkey.com>" (replace the "at" with an "@" and delete the spaces on both sides of "at")

The ballot "Subject" line reads: "Please Vote: 2014/15 GAGB Committee Ballot Notification"

The above two line of information should be helpful in locating your ballot in spam folders should you not receive the ballot in your inbox.

The poll will be open until midnight, GMT, Friday, 28 November, 2014.

Thank you for your participation!

At your service,

Michael Malvick/Ladybug Kids
GAGB Returning Officer

With five days left to vote, 229 ballots have been cast as of a few minutes ago.

There is a wide selection of candidates (goals and regions) to select from, so don't miss out on choosing who will set the direction for GAGB during the coming year!

If you already voted, encourage another GAGB member to vote.

With three days left to vote, 276 ballots have been cast.

Last year, 382 GAGB members voted in the election for Committee Members, and 441 voted in 2012.

Help spread the "get out the vote" word so a new standard can be set!

Thanks for the update Mike. For the sake of comparison, do you have access to the number of candidates in those two years? Cheers.

The last two years have both had the same number of candidates

2012/2013 - 13 candidates (Link to thread (https://www.gagb.org.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=4805))

2013/2014 - 13 candidates (Link to thread (https://www.gagb.org.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=5210))

Earlier this morning (Wednesday, my time) I configured SurveyMonkey to send an e-mail to all members who have not yet voted.

The subsequent flurry of voting raised the number of cast ballots to 317.

This morning (Thursday, my time) I sent a reminder e-mail from my personal account to all members who have not yet voted with instructions on how to locate the SurveyMonkey ballot that has been sent to them and the midnight Friday closing time of the election.

As of a few minutes ago, 355 GAGB members have voted.

With just 4.5 hours to left for voting, the tally is up to 391 ballots completed.

Will 400 be reached?

I will endeavor to have results posted no later than 0300 GMT, Saturday, 29 November. I have personal commitments today that most likely will keep me from posting earlier.
