2025-2026 Nominations for EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE - 8 vacancies - 1 year term

Hello GAGB Members:

Nominations for the GAGB EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE for 2025-2026 will be accepted from 00:00 Saturday 15 November 2025 - 23:59 Wednesday 19 November 2025

NOTE: there are 8 vacancies that are required to be filled. Term of office is 1 year.

All GAGB active members at the start of nominations are eligible to nominate another member, or members, or second a nomination. Members who have been nominated and seconded are asked to accept or decline their nomination in this thread. Please note that the GAGB Constitution states that "6c. Current Executive Members and the Chair shall not take part in nominations, however they may be nominated and may accept the nominations."

This means none of the current Committee members may make a nomination or second a nomination. However, non-Committee members may nominate an existing Committee member or second that Committee member's nomination. The GAGB Constitution also states that any inactive member (a member that has not logged on to the forums for the past three years) may be nominated, but they will not be put forward to election unless they accept their nomination before the acceptance deadline of midnight Wednesday 20th November 2025.

This thread will be closed at the end of the nominations period and anyone who has not been seconded and accepted during this period will not be considered as a candidate for election.

Candidates nominated and who have accepted same are requested to send their manifesto, photo (passport style, I can crop the photo for you if you need help) and geocaching avatar (if you have one) to me, as the GAGB Independent Returning Office, by midnight, Wednesday, 20th November 2025 at elections@gagb.org.uk

After the nomination period closes, nominee manifestos, photos, and avatars will be posted in a locked ‘Candidates for 2025-2027 Executive Committee' thread as well as on the ballot so you may read about why each candidate is standing for election and the skills they will bring to the Committee if elected.

The Election for the Executive Committee will then be held during 00:00 Tuesday 25 November - 23:59 Friday 28 November, by electronic ballot (if necessary). More information about the annual elections can be found in the GAGB Constitution (Section Q)

Q&A opens: 00:00 Friday 20th November
Q&A closes: 23:59 Monday 24th November (4 full days)
Vote: 00:00 Tuesday 25th November - 23:59 Friday 28th November (4 full days)
Result announced: morning of Saturday 29th November

The newly elected Executive Committee Members will take office on 1st December 2025.

IRO UPDATE

It seems as though the rugby has kept the cachers busy today!:joyous: So far no nominations have been received.

I would like to nominate Paul Bevan and Jayne Guppy. They both invest a lot of their time into running the GAGB shop, manning the stalls at events and promoting GAGB in discussions with others. In addition, Paul spends time dealing with the DoE people. They are both sociable, reliable and hard working and would/will be an asset to the committee,

Can I call a point of order. Jaynie15 was appointed to the committee in the December 2024 meeting - minutes attached. The full title of an appointed member is "Appointed Executive Committee Member" as detailed within section H (8/a) of the constitution. Executive Committee members cannot nominate or second members for committee posts. These nominations need to be excluded and deleted as leaving then may influence others. This is no fault of Jayne's - it should have been made clear prior to the election.

In order to clarify this point, please see below:

Clause G5 of GAGB constitution

Appointed Members: In the event that none of the Executive Members have the availability, ability or inclination to carry out specific tasks or take on specific roles, the Executive Committee shall have the power to delegate such a task to a member - such members are Appointed Members.
Appointed Members may take part in relevant committee discussions, but shall have no voting powers.
Appointed Members are in addition to Executive Members, and as such may increase the attendance at meetings beyond nine.

In other words, "APPOINTED MEMBERS" are not elected to the Executive and as it clearly states - "shall have no voting powers". That said, they do not fall under the rules that they cannot participate in the election process. It will be up to the new Executive to decide if they wish to APPOINT members during the coming term of office.

I trust this clears the point.

big eddie (Paul Bevan) - big eddie is doing a splendid job of running the GAGB shop, both online and at events, he also oversees GAGB's DofE candidates. He deserves to be re-elected for 2025/2026.

Border Caz (Caz Turver) - Border Caz is a wonderful treasurer, not always an easy job, but she does it well.

Joe222s (Joe Mitchell) - Joe222s is the social media officer, and is responsible for keeping everyone up to date with what's going on and when. She should be re-elected for 2025/2026

stuarthowe11 (Stuart Howe) - stuarthowe11 is the technical man, and can fix most things on the website.

LinguiJosh (Josh McCune) - LinguiJosh does a brilliant job as secretary with the Seeker magazine, and is super helpful at events when we have visitors from overseas! He should be re-elected for 2025/2026.

DJMitch25 (Darren Mitchell) - I think DJMitch25 should be elected for 2025/2026 as he does a lot behind the scenes, is very helpful to me when manning the shop at events.

Many thanks to geocaching womble for nominating me, and Bear & Ragged for seconding me.

Following ten years on the committee, including three as Chair, I’ve decided to step down, and those standing have been aware of this for a while. Therefore, I decline the nomination.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time on the committee and will miss it greatly.

The new committee will have my full support, and I look forward to seeing where the GAGB goes next.
