Just a quick line to say welcome to the new GAGB forum.

We hope that this forum will prove useful to all members of the GAGB by providing them with a method of giving us feedback and information.

Forums will be added when we have some feedback from our members about what they want.

Let's all hope for some positive things for geocaching in the future.

We are pretty sure that things will have to be tweaked and trimmed up as we go along, so please bear with us while we get this all settled down.

The most important thing is of course, visiting places one would probably never have even known about had it not been for the hunt for a hidden box and the participation of those who hid that box.

So let's keep it friendly and constructive. B)

    Yeehah!!

After 3 abortive attempts, I made it just in time to celebrate my birthday.

    GAGB rocks...

Can't wait until it actually gets to where the founders hope it would get to be.

With 200 caches under the belt, we can only assume you knew how to input the URL for GAGB, and turned up with ease.

Now all I have to do is find out how to activate my avatar, and find out why I can't see user profiles... :P

The "Members" section gives a list of members, it isn't a section for members to use.

Back in the very early days of this forum, the moderators promised that information on who's a member wouldn't be made public, hence why this section is not available to members to view.

    Well hi there, and welcome!

I hope you have plenty of spare time..... coz it's now gonna get all used up caching!!! Don't expect to lead a "normal" life any more!

And you will find your whole outlook on life will change.... as you walk through some woods, no more will you say "oh, look at the nice flowers". No, instead it will be: "hey, look, a big rotten tree stump, just the sort of place to hide a cache!"

I'm sure you, like the rest of us, will be having many hours of fun!

    Welcome to the sport!

Whilst hunting caches in winter does tend to be wetter & more miserable, at least it DOES make you get out and get some excersise when you might otherwise prefer not to.

It also means that when it rains on summer caching trips, you don't feel QUITE as bad, as you will remember how bad it REALLY was "back in the winter"!!!!

There is a cachers meet coming up at the end of the month, in Winchester: I hope you can joins us there!

Hi Bifter, and welcome to GAGB. I think the reason avatars can't be used is that this site is hosted on someone's business server, and they need to keep traffic down to save bandwidth for its main purpose.

Hi ! Stumbled across Geocaching via a military site , found my 1st two yesterday

I take it this site is a sister site for the US geocaching website ?

Hi and welcome, you'll soon be hooked!

This site isn't a sister site, all the caches are listed on the main us site (geocaching.com). This is an organistaion forn UK geocachers who's aims are to attempt to get permission for geocaching from UK landowners, actively promoting the sport etc.

I've just been trying to change our name from jjnfc to "The J J Noodle Fan Club" wot we use on gc.com and found I can't do it!

In the process however I've spotted that it's exactly a year since we registered on this board and we haven't posted once in all that time so this post is to rectify that

BTW: Without posting how do you tell if you're a voting member or not?

jjnfc, we're looking at this, but so far it seems as if there's no way to change a user name. Watch this space.

I've now changed your user name as requested. In the meantime you'd set up a new account in the new name. I've deleted that account. It's better to keep your old account as that way your forum posts and preferences are preserved.

Sorry to take so long about it!
