There is an area owned by Somerset Wildlife Trust that I think would be a nice area to set a cache and was planning to contact them. However, just looking through the agreements - I see that SWT are listed as 'permission refused'
I was wondering how long ago this was and whether it is worth trying anyway ?

    Thanks

That was September 2004 so it's well worth asking again. There was a cache on their land Hungerford Coulston, which they found and were happy with, but didn't want any more.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the info - I just didn't want to stir things up if it had been a recent issue.

I will make contact with them sometime soon.

I eventually found time last week to write a letter to SWT:

    Here is the reply...

Thank you for your recent email requesting permission to place geocaches on Trust nature reserves.

(He then mentioned that he had recently been contacted by another cacher about placing a geocache on another of their reserves).

Requests such as these have to go to our Reserves Advisory Panel who will make a recommendation to Trust Council. This issue is on the list of items requiring consideration by the Panel, unfortunately it has a particularly heavy workload but I will ensure that it goes on the agenda as soon as possible and will contact you to pass on the decision.

Well done that's good progress. They've not prejudged either request and there appears to be a process for considering each cache; that's much better than most situations I come across.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Yes, that sounds good! Well done indeed, and good luck with your future dealings with them!

    Going well so far then.

The hampshire one is a basic agreement. then cachers approach the contact to discuss individual caches. seems to work.
