They didn't use the actual name but a fictional one which is the one that is needed

Chicago is the right area and the fictional airport was named after a dead president.

I never knew that !! Wasn't there some later controversy about the fact that there were no plans to get her back ??

Who was a friend of Van Goch and was famous for his paintings of Polynesian ladies ?

I was too young to remember but I would be surprised if there wasn't an outcry in this country as AFAIK there were no plans for her return, which would have little effect on the Russians now and, at that time, even less.

Published in 1984, what is the title of Iain Banks first novel, the title reffering to a huge clock face encased in a glass box and salvaged from a local dump ?.

PS - One of my favourite books - a good straight forward moral tale - an honest man facing, and overcoming life's challenges for unselfish reasons. An unfashionable stance in this materialistic age !!
