Thumbs down Testing - not vert jazzy is it?

It's as clear as mud as to how formatting and smiles are added in this forum!!!

Nope, still can't find fonts, hyperlinks, smilies, etc.

Try activating the advanced editor in your options

I can't find the colour though

How about this? Well that seems to work!
You need to put the tags in by hand like this (color=green) but using square braces (/color)

Default Selecting the advanced WYSIWYG editor

As the last post states you will have to activate the advanced editor on your account, simply go to:

Quick Links >> Edit Options >> Miscellaneous Options >> Message Editor Interface (at the bottom of the page).

Select - Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing.

That will enable the menu with formatting options to be visible to you when creating or replying to posts.

To change the colour you will see a drop down list just after the ones for Font and Size, it looks like this with a black bar under it. you can use that to change text colours. Smilies are found in the drop down list next to that one.

Smile Now I'm as happy as a pig in muck (did I mention the Commando Challenge?)

Thanks Guys : cheers :- That's fixed it for me. I'm surprised this isn't on as a default for luddites like me!

    Happy caching

Me too, but I've just been through the Admin settings, and I'm afraid there doesn't seem to be any way to change that default. hmy:

Bill - you need to go into:

vBulletin Options >> Message posting interface Options >> Enable Clickable Message Formatting Controls.

You can then set the following:

For the Full Editor - Enable Standard & WYSIWYG Controls

For the Quick Reply - Enable Standard Controls

For the Quick Edit - Enable Standard Controls

You can then go into the Maintenance >> Execute MySQL Query >> Automatic Query

Select - Show Enhanced (WYSIWYG) Editor Toolbar

Run the query by clicking continue and it will update everyones profiles to show the WYSIWYG editor by default.

    That should change it.

    Ian, thanks for that!

That's done, with some help from Stuart as I hit a permissions problem in Maintenance.

I'd changed my default to Basic, and on reloading the page I got wysiwyg, so hopefully that's working for everyone now.

FollowMeChaps, I've just taken a look at your account.

Your pic is showing as your profile pic (to appear on your profile page), but you haven't got a pic showing as an avatar.

Go to your control panel from the User CP link near the top left of most (all?) pages.

Choose Edit Avatar from the menu on the left.

Check the radio button in the Custom Avatar section.

Choose Browse in Option 2 and select your avatar.

Click the Save Changes button at the bottom.

Your avatar should then be showing. Any problems with that then let me know and I'll take another look.

Many thanks Bill - this GAGB service is superb.

Now, at the risk of pushing my luck too far, can I borrow £50?

    Happy to help...!

As to the fifty quid, I don't think you'd like the interest rates:
