I wondered wo'd be the first to ask. Its a different way of displaying how active someone is on the site rather than just how many posts someone has made. If you have a fairly full green bar like mine it means that you should really get a life and get out into the real world as you're spending too much time in here (probably in the arcade) LOL.
vBExpereince - daft name but basically it is a system of showing how active people are on the site and allowing them to do some fun things as rewards for posting etc - thats still to come. Whenever you do anything on the site, from making posts, thanking someone to playing in the arcade you get points. These points allow you to gain experience and level up - sounds a bit geeky? I guess it is. These points can then be used to obtain objects for your profile for fun and awards are given automatically by the system for people doing lots of different things.
If you click on your name on any post you will see a drop down list that actually shows three bars, these are your experience, how much activity is required before you get to the next level and yoru activity on here.
If you click on the 'Quick Links' Link on the nav bar you will get a dropdown list and one of the options on it is vBExperience (must remember to change that stupid name) there you can see the awards, who's got most experience on here etc and other niff naff and trivia. Its all just a bit of fun.

"I Cache, therefore I am"
Well to be honest, I had a look to see if anyone had asked & didn't find anyone, so then I had a nagging doubt that perhaps it had been there all along & maybe I was going to get a "this has been asked 1,000,000 time before, look here, & here, & here ....", a bit like the "which is the best GPS threads"
Anyway it all sounds a bit "Dungeons & Dragons" to me, how many orcs do I need to slay to become a level 10 Mage ?
PS. Only replying in order to bump up my vBExperience - ha ha ha![]()
I just noticed a couple of horizontal bars under people's usernames in the forum. What's that all about?
do yu get extra points for starting a new thread?! Martybartfast asked that question!
You can find out how points are awarded and how many are awarded for each action here:

Merging this thread with another one on the same subject - hold on......

taxi? In these times? Some of us have to walk to work y'know - in bare feet!
Sorry, I think it's a stupid gimmick, and does not add to the experience of the site.
Is this a caching related site, or just to get people to gain "points for prizes"?
OK, the games are a bit of a hit with me, despite not doing too well!hmy:

The best thing about it is that you can just ignore it. The site is different things to different people. Some people would argue that even the games shouldn't be here. I am just trying to make it appeal to the widest audience - sorry to have hit a nerve.
"I Cache, therefore I am"
Ignore it?
Does that mean I have the option to turn it off?
As it is I can see it next to everyones name...
Hit a nerve? It's not that bad!
Just getting very Facebook around here, and that's a site I don't use, 'cos of all the gimmicks!![]()
