Looks interesting. Not had time to have a proper go yet, but had a play with the mission builder last night and it was so easy. There aren't many missions at the moment but there are randomly placed piles of 'gold' to walk past and collect everywhere (literally, there's several within 5 minutes walk of my house). So far I've discovered you can't drive past in the car and collect them! Hopefully I may have a spare hour during daylight hours next week, so I'll let you know what I think.

I just signed up for it and have created a short mission around my village. It was all very easy and looks like it could be fun. It looks good on my Nokia N95 and makes good use of Google Maps.

    Thumbs up

I've been out and tested my mission today. It was fun and really easy to follow. Had to hang around at the check pints for a minute or two for it to register, but accuracy was exactly where I'd placed the flags on the map last week. Had a few problems with connection to the phone network, but once the mission down loaded all was well. It's frustrating that I have to go 8 miles to the next nearest mission and will have to pay to park in the town centre for at least 2 hours. A box at the end would be nice .

I also went to collect the piles of 'gold' near home. A good thing was that every time I collected a pile a new one appeared, the dog and I could have wandered the streets all day collecting gold. The gold was collected as I passed, so no hanging around looking suspicious. On the down side, one pile of gold was in the middle of the TA centre barracks and another one was also inaccessable. It seems like we could collect gold and take a different route everytime we go out and makes a nice change from go to the park, do a lap and come home.

Is this some sort of GPS pub crawl game?

As this was the sort of game that geocachers might enjoy I thought about posting information about it on the GSP forum. However as I'm on a "final warning" over there I thought I'd better check with Seattle first. Just as well I did as I was told that as it was "commercial" and "arguably competed" with Groundspeak I couldn't.

Shame really as with an influx of Geocachers it could have led to more missions being posted and add to general fun we (used to?) have. Seems to me to be an excellent replacement for virtual caches which many, but admittedly not all, people used to enjoy.

I see someone dared to mention it on the main GSP forums https://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/in...owtopic=210358
