    Default Online weather forecasts

I know this has been discussed before, either in here or elsewhere, but I can't find the thread.

Until recently I had been using the BBC for daily and five-day forecasts, but recently they've fixed what wasn't broke and redesigned their pages. I now find that the main page that I'm interested in is slow to load, makes my temperature-sensitive CPU fan sound like an F1 racing car, and whereas the old page had everything I wanted on it I now have to follow various links to get all I need.

What online weather forecasts do others use, and how reliable do you find them?

I too use the BBC web site for 5 days forecast. Yes it has been redesigned but once you have your home town set as your weather homepage, I find it is no slower than it ever was.

I imagine you may have a faster processor or faster connection than I have, as it's a lot slower for me.

I use www.metcheck.com and www.netweather.tv. Both are reasonably accurate for a few days out but not particularly reliable beyond a week.

I have a piece of string fixed outside of the window.

If it's wet it is, or has been raining.
If it's wiggling about it's windy.

Thanks to everyone who's suggested possibilities.

Of those suggested so far I prefer www.metcheck.com. It gives me everything I want on one page, and I like the layout and the amount of detail.

But I'll watch all of the suggestions over the next few weeks and compare reliability.

I used to look at the 5 day BBC forecast for my area (Northwich) every day. As a tool for forecasting what the weather was like it was completely hopeless as the forecast would vary wildly over the 5 day period. In fact, there seemed to be a bug in the software as the forecast for the coming day would often be completely at odds with the BBC TV forecast, e.g on one occasion I remember the website showing maximum 7C and rain in August when the forecast everywhere else was max 20C and dry (which was how it turned out). So, it was more of an entertainment than anything remotely useful. I've just looked at the new format. I can't say that my computer is particularly speedy but the page loads quickly for me.

For weather forecasts now I use The Weather Channel (http://uk.weather.com). It is generally pretty reliable.

    Another vote for metcheck...

Was gutted when they got rid of the cloud elevation levels a couple of years ago though, as that was a fab app for hillwalking.

I've used Metcheck for years and found it mostly accurate, but also used Metoffice which is better for UK weather forecasts IMHO...

    You forgot:

If you can't see it, it's foggy

I currently use the metoffice website and sometimes the Weather Channel (uk.weather.com), but will look at some of others listed here.

Well, I've been watching all the suggestions for the last few weeks, and my preference is www.metcheck.com. I like the look and feel of the site, but more importantly it's been pretty accurate, and I think that's the one I'll stick to in future!

    Thanks for all the suggestions!
