Thread: GAGB Geocoin

    Default GAGB Geocoin

We'd like to establish if a GAGB Geocoin is feasible. Due to the costs involved we'd probably have to take a returnable deposit from those interested prior to being able to put the coin into production.

Please complete the following poll if you'd be interested in purchasing a GAGB Geocoin.

Initial thoughts are costs will be £8 plus delivery.

I would be interested. Any idea what the design you are thinking of?

My initial thoughts are that is expensive for a geocoin.

I'd be happy to buy one at that price to support GAGB.

I very rarely buy more than one of any geocoin - Only if it had an exceptionally attractive design (IMO) or had some other particularly unusual feature would I buy extras.

An example of what I mean by an "unusual feature".

A year ago that was expensive for a geocoin, now there are very few around for less than that. The exchange rate between the £ and the $ has really hit coin prices.

It's impossible to say until we've seen the design. Have you got any ideas yet?

    Question

    Have done the poll.

The design is good. Just 1 thing, you have England , Scotland, Wales. Where is Northern Ireland, or any of the other Islands around Britain? It could be taken from the design that only 3 countries make up the GAGB.

Maybe it might be best if the GAGB had the Union Jack going right through the letters, or if the coin had the emblem that is in the upper left had corner of this website.

The logo consists of the flags of the mainland countries that comprise Great Britain.
During the design of the logo we consulted with members from Northern Ireland, and could not arrive at a flag that represented them all, so the decision was taken to use the Union Flag as representative of the whole nation.
Technically, Great Britain is England, Scotland and Wales, as shown....but we do of course wish to represent all British cachers.
As for all the other islands - well, there simply aren't enough letters in "GAGB" to do that, much as we'd love to
