Default The Active Cacher Word Challenge..

Just though I'd launch this caching word challenge and see if it floats………..

Every Friday evening a set of unusual words or phrases will be published to the 'General Geocaching Related Topics ' section of the forum.

The challengefor you, the forum users/ members, is to get as many of these into your caching logs over the following week, this can be for finds, DNFs, TB moves etc. Participants need to update that particular forum conversation by 9:00p.m. the following Thursday with their success in points.

(I suggest a list is maintained by copying previous entries, pasting them into your reply and annotating with your score).

The winner(s) have the honour of setting the following week's words/ phrases/ local slang as long as it's publishable

    Friday 26th February

The words for this week are:

Brobdingnagian – of extraordinary size, gigantic, enormous.
Myrmidon – a loyal follower, a follower who carries out orders without question.
    Fructuous – fruitful, productive

    And the phrase:

'Never give a sucker an even break'

1 point for using any single word in a log.
3 points for using two words in a log.
5 points for getting all three words in a log.

5 points for using the phrase.
    10 points for the lot.

This is obviously meant as a little bit of fun, try and avoid the tactic of copying and pasting your log comments for numerous caches. Be inventive, witty and if you feel you have a particularly humorous log let us know.

    Happy caching!!

The cache/TB/GC owners will think we've gone bonkers! But it could be fun .............

Me thinks an element of sample checking needs to be applied

mehinks the rules should read 'a cache that is not your own' and 'must be a found log not a note or DNF'

And the words must be used in proper sentences (i.e. not just listed).

My log for a cache done this morning - https://www.geocaching.com/seek/cach...1-156992fdbac8

Quick C&D on the way home from a night shift this morning. A fructous search that revealed a cache of brobdingnagian size for the location. Not what I was expecting at all. Log signed and returned under the not very watcgful eye of someone sitting in the bus stop. One more of the 'Home-work-home' list. TFTC.

    But.
Sometimes the DNF logs are more creative!
Agree with "not on your own" caches.
    Not sure about Notes...
    I have a Geocaching problem...

Got 'em all in this found log today:
    https://www.geocaching.com/seek/log....0-98f11c1b6cc1

They're all used correctly in proper sentences (as far as my English language skills will allow), and I think I've been verbose enough to not be too obvious about which words I was trying to include..

    Nope, coudn't do it.

My first attempt I only got one of the words in - can't remember which it was now.

Got all the words in on this one, but couldn't work in the phrase:

March 3 by Border Caz (237 found)

I just managed the clues in 2 hours, so no time left on the parking and had to drive to final location. I cannot believe I made two such brobdingnagian errors - unfortunately I had no myrmidon to point out my mistakes, and carried on happily walking about 3 miles further round Newport than I needed to. No wonder I failed Latin "O" Level twice, and how I passed Geography I'll never know. Anyway, I finally managed to work out the correct co-ords for the final cache and after a fructuous search I had my hands on the cache. Thanks for this one, John - my favourite caches are these ones that get me round looking at places and learning some of their history. TNLN SL.

    So Marty Bartfast wins.

    Sorry, only just seen this.

Plethora - an abundance or excess
Quixotic - extravagantly chivalrous or romantic
tarradiddle - a fib or pretentious nonsense.

and the phrase is "Go Ahead, make my day"

Sorry, my geocaching activities have been temporarily curtailed due to a health problem, so I've only been doing a few drive by type ones that don't involve much walking, and haven't managed very exciting logs for them.

Will try again when I get a chance!
