Trigs on GC.COM - *IMPORTANT*

I would love to be able to log a trig with the rest of my finds! Shame I joined geocaching when Virtual Caches and other creative ways to find a location were moved to Waymarking, there is no IPhone App for it :P

Don't see the point. Waymarking covers it very well, and www.trigpointinguk.com is fine for the specialist.

I'd say Waymarking covers it very badly. The effort involved in creating a waymark that successfully meets all the random criteria for inclusion in the category is generally greater than the effort required to find the trig in the first place, no matter how remote.

I'm a bit baffled by this comment. What are all these tricky criteria? I've submitted several without a problem. Takes about five to ten minutes on average. Looking at other submissions, they don't look complicated either.
You just have to include a couple of photos, and I imagine that if they were "pretend geocaches" you'd still have to include photos.

The instructions for posting a trig point are;

Instructions for Posting a U.K. and Ireland Trigpoints Waymark:This category requires a CLOSE-UP photo of the OS object and a photo of the object with the general area taken by the waymarker.

When a trig is waymarked 2 photos are required, the trig and one of the flush bracket.
Most waymarkers submit two photos one close up of the object and one a little further away. The object must be recognizable in the photos.
Please ensure you complete both the short and long descriptions including street names if appropriate, nearest hamlet, village or town and County. (If these are not completed then your submission will be rejected.) Postcode is a bonus.Ensure all Flush Bracket numbers are entered in the appropriate field.

OK, supplying details of the trig point location might be seen as onerous "random criteria" to you but it does help when you view the finished list of trig points. Even on the minimalist tuk.com there are details of the location of a trig.
Also, including the photos does help, in my opinion, although no doubt you'd rather there weren't any.
No, I still don't see your point.

I know that there are still less than 5000 trigpoints waymarked but personally I prefer them there rather than as some sort of peculiar geocache.

Well, HH, it's been so long that I can't really remember what I was so worked up about. Probably the photos, I kept getting them wrong, no good with a camera. Storm in a teacup, evidently.

I still think T:UK beats Waymarking by a country mile, especially now that the site has been sorted out with proper moderators to check accuracy of new submissions etc.
