I love the way this is catching on

Great graphs Fermentum, thanks for the hard work.

When deciding to take part in this fun game, I had already made a decision to record my driving and walking mileage for the year. Just for info, in these first 7 days, whilst my coin has racked up a little under 400 miles, I've driven 593, and walked 19.1

Is there a rule about YOSM? I bagged one yesterday about 10 miles from home (about 4 miles from my previous cache) but get over 100 miles cos of where it is listed at the moment. Today I did a local cache and get another 100+ miles as the coin "returns" from where YOSM is listed at the moment. Would have been even better if it had been in Shetland or similar! I'm not moaning (in fact I'm benefiting) but it occurs to me that it does skew the mileage record somewhat.

I asked the same question earlier. I think that the consensus was that YOSM and other moving caches are banned for the purpose of the "race".

    YOSM are not included.

Jacaru posted the mileage rules in a separate thread (sticky at the top of this forum) a few days ago.

    Thanks for the link.

My mileage will need to be adjusted down to ignore the YOSM. Apologies for the error.

Is there anyway of deleting the entry? Also please let me know the amount to deduct. Remember I am a newbie cacher and dont even know what a YOSM cache is!

    http://www.yosm.org.uk/ Ye Ole Survey Monuments

It's a Grandfathered cache (No longer allowed to be set, but is allowed to carry on as a cache)

It moves around the country. It's Trig Pillars -Survey Monuments- which can be logged as a cache (there's no log to sign, just email the required info to the cache owner) and can be logged as a find from previous placements...

Hope that makes sense! Go and read http://www.yosm.org.uk/

I believe that if MJ deletes the YOSM visit log on his COIN page (not the find log on the cache page) and then selects "recalculate mileage" from the drop down box on the right then it should be correct.

Thanks for doing these, however I don't understand the figures. On the total so far image my figures look right (about 50 miles) yet the week 2 figures for me show over 200 miles. Is it just me?
    Cheers,

Well spotted Stuey, whats happened is I took all of the peoples forum names and had them on the list, I noticed that Ryuchan was Team Noodles on the coin so I changed to Team Noodles. After last week when it was requested to sort alphabetically I sorted one with Ryuchan in and the other with Team Noodles in, so that meant a few went out of sync! Thanks for pointing it out, I have corrected it now.

    Late Entry Alert!

Many thanks to DrDick&Vick for rushing A GAGB geocoin out to me, as I'm now able to make a late entry into the 2011 Milage Tracker game.

My coin's tracking number is TB3Y2VC; The VC stands for Victorious Coin

After being more or less house bound since October with a fractured left ankle, I am at last going to start driving again tomorrow as have just got a new company car - automatic

So I will be clocking up plenty of miles in the coming weeks .... just need time to find some caches at the furthest points (although, they may have to be drive bys as I can't walk very far yet).

So let this mileage comp begin

No, not too late, just register your coin or TB and let Fermentum know the number, then retro visit any caches that you have done since Jan 1st.

Fermi, you must let everyone know when enough is enough as you are the one doing all the work on this.:socool:

I presume DNF's are not valid, even if you spent time looking before a happy (not) security guard decided to stand 3 ft from you.

Its up to you. It would take a while to copy all 40+ links for each coin. Once you have them its a case of putting every new total onto the sheet. The sheet does the rest. If you want me to I will send you the sheet with the steps to do the week?

EDIT: Forget that, I just dragged the bookmarks into the Excel sheet and they work from there! PM me your email if you don't mind doing it for the week.

Is it too late to join in with this? Mr Smithbat got a travelbug t shirt for Christmas and we decided to dip him into every cache this year. We started at our nearest one, are we too late?
