Sorry Jacaru it is possible but would take hours. I would need to make a note of every cache that a person does. And I remember Sandvika saying the other day he bashed out 70 something caches in a single day. If you have 30 players and it will be with Wemnog and everyone does just a single cache per day that would be 210 caches I need to log per week. Unless there is a way of creating a report?
yep, I thought it may be difficult, just wondered if you knew a way around it. Never mind, just a thought.
Well if my newly ordered coin arrives I will activate and use it.

Added you Bill D.
Jacaru I have added Wemnog, just need to get him registered!
Captain gore-tex I have added you as well. If you have ordered a GAGB coin PM DrDick and he should be able to send you the coin details via PM to register before you receive it in the post.
Thats 32! This is going to be a lot of work!
Fermi
I have already posted it out otherwise I could have given you the code so as you could have activated it.
If it has not arrived by New Years Day drop me a PM and I will give you the code for another one and post it out and you can post the original back to me 'unactivated of course '
If you get the coin in the first week of the new year it should be fine I think. All you need to have is the first weeks coin visits done by Friday 7th January. I then hope to do the first weeks logs on that night and then every Friday after.
Can you register the coin and then back track your finds for the week?

"Can you register the coin and then back track your finds for the week?"
I don't see this as being a problem, it isn't as if the coins are being left in caches, and it is only fair with the way the post is at the moment.
Now, that's it, I'm off, and it isn't cos I am in NI and due to a lack of water. Going on me hols (yep to do OS out of a job too Dr. D!)
I'll be nipping in over the next few days, just not as regularly.
Just a small, nit-picky question...
This competition / tracking race is for caches visited within the UK, isn't it?
Can I just clarify exactly what is the definition of "UK" in the context of this race?
Is it "UK and Northern Ireland"?
And if Northern Ireland is included then could the boundaries be "stretched a bit" to also include Southern Ireland too?
In fact, could it encompass The British Isles as a whole?
(I ask because we might be doing a trip through all of Ireland next year )
I think the consensus so far is that all caches in the UK are included, and Northern Ireland is part of the UK, so NI is already included.
Whether the rules are tweaked to include the Republic of Ireland is another matter...

I think I've kept up with the discussion on the rules, but is it worth having a definitive statement in one place that we can refer to? This is supposed to be fun, and some unambiguous ground rules should help keep it that way.
Something like (with lots of cutting/pasting from other posts):
Jan 1st dip into nearest cache to home - then simply dip into every cache visited (including earthcaches, virtuals, events, your own, revisits to previous finds), but only one visit per cache and you must sign the log (other people's physical caches), fulfil the conditions (other people's earthcaches, virtuals, webcams etc.) or perform maintenance (your own physical or non-physical caches).
Just catching up with the posts here, I have said I would join in via the invitation on facebook. I will be using the coin I received in the NWcaching Secret Santa.

Interesting point from Mrs B.
I'd always thought that Great Britain included Northern Ireland, but apparently not, " The term 'Great Britain' (GB or just Britain) refers to the area covered by England, Scotland and Wales." according to this Government website: http://webarchive.nationalarchives.g...ns/DG_10015114
However, "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (the UK or United Kingdom for short) is made up of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland."
So, as this is the GAGB - are we only doing GB or is it the whole of the UK?
I.e. do we include Northern Ireland or not?
Either way, I don't think Eire should be included - but that's just my opinion and I'll go with the majority.
For me, I always thought that Northern Ireland would be included, just hope there is more available water there when anyone visits. I don't think Eire should be included.
As far as the mileage goes, I had presumed also that everyone would include, IOM, IOW, Channel Islands, Scottish Isles. Anglesey and any of the other off mainland islands.
1 day to go.
I have quoted from Daryl's original post so using his wording as a guide Northern Ireland is ok.
The Home page of the GAGB Web Site does actually say:
The Geocaching Association of Great Britain (GAGB) is the leading UK Geocaching body, recognised by and acting on behalf of cachers. The association was established in 2004 to provide a voice for its members in the United Kingdom
So it would seem that the competition covers the UK
Ha! Unlikely, I would say
I don't mind what areas are covered by this race, I just though I should get it clarified before I get carried away "visiting" my coin all over Eire (if we actually get this holiday sorted...)
So... It's going to be the UK and N Ireland, right?
Thats it I stayed up so as I could get mine dipped.
All done and now ready to rock and roll.
That's my coin dipped in an unpublished cache at my house. Now I need to go and fetch a child from a party (thankfully in walking distance as I definitely shouldn't be driving)
Rather leathered, but it's dipped and off :-)
We're off!!!
Quit, don't quit? Noodles, don't noodles?
Woohoo we're off!!!!
Okay first stupid question of the year. How do I log my coin into the nearest cache I am at? I think I need to discover the coin first?
Thank you
OH AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!!!
Happy New Year. My coin is raring to go, dipped in to the cache by the hotel here is St. Clears.
Visit the cache and log a visit
Assuming it is already showing as in your possesion, you do it at the same time as logging a visit to that cache (or a note if you forget to do it with your visit log) or a maint log if visiting your own cache for a maint visit to start it off. I thought the rules were that it could only be dipped in a cache that was actually visited.

First cache visited today! But my hang over got the better of me so only 1 today!
I will do a full updated list of all contestants later. My internet at home was a little slow before Christmas so I hope it has sorted itself out.
Fermi
I have just noticed this and it sounds a fun way to keep track of my miles!
Seeing as it is a bit late in the day I only have a travel bug at home so I have activated this today and took it on my caching today!
TB3EF96
My coin is registered: TB3Y2Z1
12 caches today so a few miles clocked up, would have been more but the old knee played me up.
I did a few caches today so the miles have started, would have done more but I have Dr. D affiction and my knee wasn't good, and Wemnog is still not 100%
Right hope im doing this right as new to this!!
Weve took our GAGB coin out today and worked up a few miles must get it out more.
Unfortunately my new coin has been delayed in the Santa post however on its arrival it already has some miles to retrieve which, I trust, will be in order.
Are we too late for this? Just activated our GAGB coin (TB3Y2TK) and dipped it in the one and only cache we did today. Hope we can join in the fun
Lang may yer lum reek.
post up the TB number so as Fermi can include tou in the graph, maybe PM him the details
Re-visited a local cache, to get the coin started.
Had brain freeze trying to remember how to log a trackable through a cache. :
Managed to log it eventually!

Hello all,
I have gone through all of the posts and think I got all of the information. I may have PMed you as I might have missed off a few.
Today I have done the following:
pieman I can't PM you for some reason asking for your coin info. (If anyone knows pieman please will you ask to send the info, thanks)
Captain gore-tex don't worry about the late arrival of your coin, I can backtrack and figure out your weekly mileage from the list.
Blid435, Redferret, Dan1980, Palujia and Wemnog, also countrymatters and walker clan- I now have your coin information.
Ryuchan I have your coin information but if its okay with you I will put on the graphs Team Noodles so I can match the coin and name up.
scubaclogger, DOSK, zarbi&zarbibird and Stuey - I have added your details and your coin information.
Just another thing as well. A few of the people I have added today seemed to think it maybe a little late to enter but that's not the case. I have noticed a coin shows all entries and the distance between that entry. I have no problem going back over (well for a few weeks, wouldn't fancy doing 6 months worth!) the logs and making a quick calculation.
Thanks everyone

Just to clarify - are non-physical caches included? What about moving virtuals like YOSM? Won't they mess up the milage?
GAGB coin activated and ready to go.
As we normally only cache on Wednesdays (apart fron holidays) I reakon we will probably do about 1800 miles!
