Okay so I think we have a simple set of rules, that I understand!! Dip your coin into every cache you find, maintain etc and thats it, SIMPLES!

There are more joining by the day which I think is great. I think we will all show the full world Geocaching community how to get together (thats cool we could try an event cache for all GAGB mileage contenders?) Anyway back to topic! I am working on a great report, one of which I am going to be sharing with Jacaru and then we will go from there and see if we can come up with some cool simple stuff.

Also when you register your coins I am going to need to link to your coin so I can bookmark them and grab the milage each week. This will be the most time consuming part but I will enjoy doing it so dont worry about that!

    Thumbs up

I've been dipping my personal TB since I started caching. Unfortunately, until Groundspeak added the 'visited' option, either the drop or retrieve would log the mileage, so I deleted all the drop logs since I added my find count to the retrieve logs, because I wanted the track to look good in Google Earth.

After Groundspeak added the 'visited' option, only the drop and visit options log mileage, so guess what: my TB lost all its mileage! I've no intention of re-dipping it into almost 1000 caches.....the mileage was wildly out anyway since it could not log my non-Groundspeak finds.....but I don't intend to make a GeoKret and dip that into 1200 caches

I'm up for the GC-only UK-only mileage dipping. My activated but as yet unlogged GAGB coin is TB3Y2Y7

Ok here's mine, Northern Ireland coin:

    So, to Clarify
    - Jan 1st dip into nearest cache to home - then simply dip into every cache visited and also dip into any of your own that you maintain.

Can I just ask 1 question, sorry to be a pain, this might not affect a lot of folks if they don't own any but I have rather a lot of Earthcaches of my own, and I do visit the sites sometimes for photography and to check they haven't fallen into the sea etc, do I dip the coin into my Earthcaches if I go there as a maintenance visit or not ? happy either way.

    My coin: TB2HE9Z

Yep, you've got it. As far as your Earthcaches, yep, if it is a maintainance visit then dip it in. Thanks for joining us.

Is there a danger of armchair loggers discovering our coins if we post the tracking number on here?

You need to use the reference number (starts with TB ...) from the coin page not the trackable code on the coin.

All graphs ready to rock and roll!

Thanks to those who have given their coin address already. I am sure a lot will wait until the new year. So long as you send it to me by the end of Week 1 that would be good.

At the moment we have 23 players.

Looks like fun, I will play but have already started the (lengthy) task of backtracking my total caching miles on a coin HERE So intend to use the 2011 miles clocked.

Hope this is okay to join as not keen on having 2 coins to visit all caches. In the spirit I have just ordered a coin to add funds to the coffers.

Default Where we are so far

    Hello all,

We are getting close now to the start of 2011!

So far I have the following 23 contenders and means not registered their trackable and means I have the information for their trackable:
    Jacaru
    Maple Leaf
    DrDick&Vick
    border caz
    Fermentum
    Ryuchan
    Dan1980
    Palujia
    pete37038
    walker clan
    pieman
    RedFerret
    countrymatters
    simplysup
    Bear and Ragged
    BigLad & Co
    RuberyBlue
    Blid435
    svk616g
    The Street Searchers
    beauchief
    staffsgeo
    sandvika

Also sandvika I stole your great idea for your coin description and everything (hope you don't mind). It has information about the Competition, it has information on GAGB, its great!
    https://www.geocaching.com/track/det...spx?id=3226099
    Here is my trackable link.

As I have said before I have sorted all of the graphs but they will only be shown after the first week.

Are we having a new thread for this or do you want me to post Week 1 on here?

And on a side note captain gore-tex the coin you have posted has 141k miles on it. I would prefer to come away from doing a calculation for each week on any coin. I would really appreciate it if you had a new coin to play with?

I am not sure I want to say this next part but I am still not 100% on how we are playing? Am I right in saying we just dip our coin into every cache we visit? So the first cache I visit of the new year would be my starting point? Then my second log is the second cache I find?

Yes, I think so. I'll be away at New Year so my coin will start somewhere in Cheshire.

Either a cache close to home if you are home on NYD or a cache that you find on NYD if you are away.
Fermi my coin is registered, I sent you a PM, but just in case it is TB3Y2V7

Still another couple of people going to join as well from what I know, so it is looking good.

    Hello all,

Thought we could have a few milestone awards when anyone gets there. I came up with the following. Firstly let me know what you think and if you like the idea? Also if you do is there any awards you can come up with to include?

    Awarded for all participants

Awarded after your first log of 2011

    Awarded when 100 miles completed

    Awarded when 500 miles completed

    Awarded when 1000 miles completed

    Awarded when 5000 miles completed

    Awarded when 10000 miles completed

Steve I have added yours but will use your Geocaching name (hope thats okay).

Cheers Aligees I have now added yours.

Nick & Ali I have added yours, your not too late an yes your right it is UK only.

Matrix your coin is fine just so long as your first log comes on new years day or later!

That's a big 29 contestants now! But still 9 that I haven't got their number from. If you could get that to me asap that would be great.

Bear and Ragged I am not sure how this would be possible. I think you would need to measure the difference between every log for all 29 contestants. As you have said I think this would be a little difficult. If you know an easier way let me know.

This just gets better and better, thanks again to everyone for joining in. Wemnog still has to join GAGB and register his coin, I have the whip here to encourage him!!!!

Ferementum, is there any way that you can keep an eye with you super duper powers on if some of these coins visit the same cache at some point in the year. For instance, I will be down in Cornwall at some point and may just visit a cache that Dr D&V have visited with their coin. That would be another interesting thing to follow as well.
    Love the milestone awards too.
