Like I said folks I might not be up for the mileage charts today.

10 and a half hours it took us to get back from Cornwall. Just chilling with a beer. Will update a two weeker next week.

Sorry about that, Chloe Mai (15 months) says hello (I think, or gugu gaga). She was attracted to the power button on the laptop because its the one with a light on! Anyway the weeks 23 and 24 are online, my little helper has assured me they are correct but .

Out caching today near St Clement and found our own GAGB coin in one of the caches.
Couldn't resist taking a picture of our Dipper Coin and our GAGB coin together.

    Hey Dave

Trouble is, sun's come out to play and being on the South Coast of Devon, next to the sea, TRAVELLING isn't really an option!!!!

Looks like the 'competition' is stuttering to an early end if the mileage cant be regularly recorded, it was good whilst it lasted.

I'm just wondering if it it feasible to do a monthly chart rather than try to do a weekly one ...... I know how quickly the weeks go by and they seem to go even quicker in the summer! It would be a shame to see this competition fade when we are over half way through ..... but at the moment I haven't got the time to commit to helping you.

And the competition was your idea Daryl !

Is there anybody else that isn't bothered about participating anymore - if so, let us know here (or via pm) as there is no point Fermentum (or anyone else) wasting their own time checking trackable logs if they aren't going to change.

I don't see why it has to stop just because Fermentum can't do the weekly updates for now. Those interested can still continue visiting their tracker to caches and at the end of the year someone will be the winner.

Could someone please enlighten me as I seem to have missed something somewhere along the way. Where does all the talk of COMPETITION and WINNER come into the equasion, I was under the impression this was a just for FUN and to try to keep track of the mileage we cover whilst caching.

    You're right. I shouldn't have said "winner".

I'll rephrase my post above as "Those interested can still continue visiting their tracker to caches and at the end of the year someone will be declared as The Furthest Travelled in Pursuit of Geocaches.

I've rarely checked on the weekly mileage graph anyway, I've just been visiting my Blorenge Dipper as often as I remember to do it!

Agree with you John. The competition element came into it when Daryl mentioned possibly gifting a geocoin to the cacher whose GAGB Milage Tracker had covered the most miles.

Disappointing that the person who originally suggested the event has given up, especially when he suggested an event longer tracking period!

I'll keep dipping mine until the end of the year, I'm currently on a work-assisted 22080.3 miles, but I'm also dipping my cachemobile (TB in the nearside rear window) to give a more accurate figure of the milage that I cover when not in my HGV. Just for fun, of course!

We're still interested and are still dipping the GC. It's a shame that the weekly update charts have now stopped as we always looked forward to seeing where we stood every Friday but I understand that circumstances change and everyone's time is at a premium. Unfortunately we neither have the time nor the knowledge to take over from Fermentum.

If Fermentum has a list of the coins in the race, I could look at updating every week.

As you say Paul, it is just for fun and for me part of the fun was seeing the graphs weekly. When Fermi found that he didn't have time (and who can blame him) to do it regularly the fun element went out of it for me.

Sorry that it disappoints you that I have given up, but it is a personal decision and doesn't affect whether others decide to continue or not.

    Default Weeks 25 to 34

Hello everyone I hope you are all well.

I have managed to do a catch up for 9 weeks (can't believe its been that long). So it will show as a long line for 9 weeks. The weekly one is an accumulation of the 9 weeks as well.

Sorry I haven't had time I know everyone loves to check it out. I will try and do it more often.

Lonewolf, nice to see you on the forums, it seems a long time since we met in Bolton that day! How is Dobpet and son? Send me your coin details and I will add you in the next update (hopefully not in 9 weeks time!).

Bobbinz thanks for offering, it is a lot of work looking up 50 different peoples mileage and then putting them into 6 graphs! I wouldn't expect anyone to do it who isn't involved.

LFC4eva, I for some reason had a lot more mileage for you for the last update so I have corrected that, no idea what I did there! Oh and also I would like to point out that Hull City beat Liverpool the other week end 3 - 0! Woohoo!!!!

Hopefully thing will get better now that the nights are drawing in and I am not hectic on the weekend.

    Yeah - well done.

I was only thinking yesterday that we could do with an update on everyones mileages - I don't mind going through and looking up the individual coins if Fermi can do the graphs.

Also, I should go through the 7,500 this week (if I get time to find a cache whilst I am working north of the border) ... but there isn't a rosette for that number :-(

    Default Weeks 35 to 46 - Upto 04/11/2011

    Hello everyone,

Sorry for not updating in a while (again).

I have done a full update from weeks 35 to 46 today. I have said up to 04/11/2011 but its actually today. I thought it would be better to keep it as a Friday date for when I do the next one (probably the end of the year the way its been going.)

Some may notice Matrix has the most since last time but I have put Slightly Tall Paul as the winner since last update because Matrix coin went to Florida and back, which was outside of the UK. I have however not taken them miles away because I haven't checked everyones.

I know it is 'just for fun', but seeing that we are this far through the year I feel that the overseas visits should be deleted just to try and keep the miles/graphs fair (as per the rules in January)

I noticed last night, that Matrix's wasn't the only coin to go for a little holiday to the sun hmy:

Into the last month now and I've crossed the 8,000 barrier but doubt if I will get another rosette before the end of the year.

However, I am a long way behind the leaders - it looks like 'Slightly Tall Paul' is going to break the 30,000 barrier very soon ..... and I expect he will be the clear winner. I hope Santa has his prize ready

I am sure Fermentum will do an end of year round up for us.

    ___________

I like the idea of Bear & Ragged's history, so here is mine.

    Maple Leaf's GAGB 2011 Mileage Coin (TB3Y2XZ)

    Tracking History (8734.4mi) 232 caches.

The four extreme caches the coin has visited in 2011:

    West: W 005° 14.001 Nice Places 3 – GC1D7B8 (Cornwall)

I think I am going to use another one of my new coins to do the same in 2012.

Are you creating those stats manually, or is there a little tool somewhere for doing it that I don't know about?

I did mine manually - just by looking at the coins map (but I expect your map is a bit fuller than mine!)

I assume that Bear and Ragged used GSAK.

    Default Final Results!

    Hello everyone,

Well done to everyone for the mileage in 2011. I have done the final mileage charts. I have missed out the one that gives the winner since last time because its been a while.

I also made the overall ranking.

Have a great new year everyone!

Thanks Fermentum for doing the end of year graphs etc.

But I think Slighty Tall Paul should have done another couple of caches just to get over the 30,000. Looks like you are definitely the winner.

I've decided to use my second GAGB coin to record my mileage in 2012 ... and it visited the first cache today - one of Captain Gore-tex's puzzles

For some reason I cannot thank Fermentum for the chart so I will add my thanks here instead

You appear to have missed the bit about UK caches only, so you have claimed about 8300 miles too many

    Enjoy!

I noticed last night, that Matrix's wasn't the only coin to go for a little holiday to the sun hmy:
