    Default Field notes vs Logs

    Noob question:

    what's the difference?

Use an iPhone to do my caching at the moment and can't find anything anywhere to tell me what the difference is.

    Hi & welcome.

Logs - are posted immediately to Geocaching.com

Field notes - These are useful to write a few notes when you are out caching e.g. trackables dropped off/needs maint and a great way of keeping track of the order you found the caches. When you get home you upload them to Geocaching.com (See down the right hand side on your profile page). You can then edit/elaborate on the note before you post it as a log. .

Have a read on this page where there is a detailed tutorial on the Geocaching iphone app.

Sometimes it's a case of information overload...
Until you require the information. Then it sinks in!

Sometimes the iphone will save logs as field notes -if it's not connected to the network - and you need to resend to get the log to the cache page.

Lots of posts in the Groundspeak forums asking "Where's my iphone log, I logged the cache when I found it...?"

    I have a Geocaching problem...
    Work gets in the way!
