    Default Life's Ups and downs

Having regained a little of Life's enthusiasm me thought to take She who must be obeyed out in the tin tent to celebrate her birthday. So booked a couple of days off booked into the Caravan Club site at Moreton in Marsh (one of our favourites). Loaded the trusty Oregon with every cache within 10 miles of the site, bought a case of a nice Merlot and some fancy edibles from our nice new M & S in Witney. Saddled up Big Ange the Range Rover and headed for the caravan storage. Hitched up the van and thought - the air suspension is taking its time rearing up to cruising height, but off we go. Got to Burford, about 5 miles, and the display lit up like a christmas tree - suspension collapse !!!! limp back to storage and take thoroughly p****d off wife and dogs home. As we entered our road what should I spy, in a neighbour's drive - An elderly disco with towbar and at a price we could afford at a pinch. Made the guy an offer which he accepted - he said he had bought it on a whim and it had not been driven for some months - had LPG conversion (good thing with a 4 ltr engine)
Hurridly repacked the gear from Ange into the Disco named by Madame as Hermione (Plate HYM) - Too late to set off this night so cancelled the night's booking and confirmed (stupidly) that we would arrive the next day. Disco seemed to run ok and reading the paperwork had been looked after (but not recently !) Bright and early next day - Off we go again !
Spent half an hour trying to hitch the van onto the tow bar only to find that the ball was the wrong type for our Alco stabiliser hitch !!!! Turned air blue as by the time we sorted out what to do the caravan shop had closed. Cancelled the site - yet again ! and decided the weekend was snake bit - no point in going out for just the two nights. Went to caravan shop next day and they confirmed the hitch was wrong - bought a new tow ball and fitted it. Got home now thoroughly grim - opened wine and drank lots ! - Madam asked if I had checked the post box - No said I and sloped off to check - Inside was the dreaded "buff" envelope from the Infernal Revenue - Cherry on the top of the weekend I thought !!! gingerly opening it I could not believe my eyes A great big tax rebate cheque !!!
Needless to say It was off to Evesham shopping village on Sunday and spent a lot making up for her "lost weekend" Funny old game - life !!!

It gets better - one of our caravanning friends rang and gave me the name of a chap who specialises in "fixing" Range Rovers - I was expecting a bill of at least 4 figures, but he reckons it's the air pump that may have gone - he has just stripped a Range Rover down and will sell me the pump, valves and gubbins for less than £100 - and fit it too - So Big Ange may not be off the road for very long !!! We want her fixed for mega Wales. Judith is feeling better after her retail therapy - the Wierd Fish shop took a bit of a bashing and I have booked a two day stay at the Burford Caravan club site to try out the Disco now the new tow bar is fitted
Back on the up again !!!!!
