'Hints' for premier members

Can anyone help? , I am a premier member on Geocaching.co.uk, however when I download caches onto my Garmin etrex 30 I seem to be unable to download the 'hints', mostly not a problem however very frustrating at others. Am I doing something wrong? I am a relatively new cacher.

I haven't used the 30 myself, but I expect you need to download the caches as .gpx files, and not .loc files.

Hello and welcome.

It sounds like you may be getting the .LOC file rather than .GPX - the LOC contains limited information.

Either use the 'Send to My GPS' or run a pocket query. You will need to install the Garmin communicator software to get the caches onto your Garmin (but you should get a prompt).

I also have the 30, I download a PQ, and use GSAK to put onto the etrex, using smartnames

Thanks guys. I have downloaded the odd PQ, but that didn't seem to download the 'hint'. I shall try again, checking out the links etc. I may be back! thanks again (for now).

Garmin's seem to have a 'Default' that if you load a file as a Non-Premium Member (or when not logged in as a PM), and leave it on the unit, any other files loaded -even as a Premium Member- the unit defaults to Non-Premium Member...
Clear any old/non PM files, before loading new files.

On geocaching.com go to profile>account details
scroll to the bottom and change "your preferences"
change GPX Version to 1.0.1 - not sure why but I seem to remember that makes a difference?
