GAGB committee elections 2012/2013

Thank you to everyone that participated in the GAGB Chair elections - I am delighted to be declared the GAGB Chair for 2012/2013. However, I now require an enthusiastic team to work along side me.

Nominations are now open for the committee elections.

This is the timetable for committee elections:

• Cut off date for being a GAGB member and able to vote: 1/10/12
• Nominations for committee open: Thurs 8/11/12
• Close of nominations: Thurs 15/11/12
• Election of committee: Fri 23/11/12 – Thur 29/11/12

Please make your nominations, second and accept/decline posts in THIS thread.

Any GAGB member can nominate (multiple) candidates, which need to be seconded by a different GAGB member for that nomination to be validated. Candidates are requested to accept / decline those nominations in this thread.

At the end of the nominations period this thread will be locked and anyone who has not been seconded and has accepted during this period will not be considered as a candidate for election.

Candidates are asked to prepare a CV/manifesto (and photo/avatar).

Please email your CV/manifesto to me (mapleleaf.geocaching@yahoo.co.uk) so that I can put them in the forum once the nomination period has closed. (Please DO NOT send photo/avatar to me)

Please also send your CV/manifesto to the Returning Officer (ladybugs@geocachealaska.org) along with a photo +/- avatar so that he can prepare the ballot page in advance.

As with the chairman elections, we will be using SurveyMonkey, so please ensure your email address is correct in your GAGB UserCP to ensure that you receive your ballot form once voting opens. The returning officer for this election will be Mike of "Ladybug Kids", who is Secretary of geocachealaska.org

I would like to second the nomination of Bobo Frett. His enthusiasm and positive attitude (not to mention his sparkling logs) have enriched many a Geocachers experience, I am sure that he would be an asset to the committee.

I was about to second Cass, knowing that the web site is a work in progress and that this is key to GAGB as an online organisation, but was pipped at the post.

I'd like to make several nominations, so in alphabetical order:

Geocaching Womble - he has already expressed his interest, he is on the committee of OpenCaching.org.uk so can add a perspective that seeks our common good. He has rightly criticised me for slacking on the maintenance of a couple of my caches

Keehotee - we were on the GAGB stand together at Weston mega and he joined our committee subsequently. I'd like to encourage him to rejoin our committee as his clarity of thought is excellent, as I'm sure anyone following his forum posts would agree.

Mongoose39uk - for his straight talking and to the point manner. He clearly needs no introduction, having served on our committee for many years. I understand why he resigned during the past year on point of principle but think this is now in the past and he can help GAGB avoid repeating past mistakes better than anyone else.

I may have one other but I'll talk to him first.

I think his involvement in that committee and the insight that he gained on running such a major event would be of benefit to the GAGB in publicising itself at future large gatherings.

Having just checked in the members list I can't find Scottiedogz listed as a member. Is she using a different name on the forum?

The Wombles - Dave has been an active part of the GAGB since it was founded and has a huge amount of experience and knowledge with regard to landowner agreements and the association in general.

Martybartfast - Martyn has been a GAGB member for many years and is always helpful in the forums and Facebook.

JackieC - Jackie was on the MegaScotland committee and is an active member of the Scottish caching community .... which is exactly what we need.
