Has anyone tried Google Earth yet on this forum?
I just spent an hour playing around on it and was well impressed.
The resolution at full magnification isn't so good but for free it's great.
There is a facility for GPS but you have to subscribe for that.
Considering this is a new site (i believe) the future looks good for it.
You can zoom in on anywhere in the world, rotate it, alter elevation, measure distance etc, all for a free download.
There's also the added facilities of being able to get directions, and coordinates
are shown at the bottom of the screen.
No i don't work for Google but think this is worth checking out.

Have you noticed how much better the images are for the US? UK is not too bad but most places (I looked at Greece for example) is very poor resolution.

Great fun all the same! As long as you are on BroadBand!

My favourite places so far are -

    My House
    My wife's workplace
    Disneyland
    New York
    Boston

Yep, i noticed the USA was clearer than us but i think in time and as you say with a fast connection it will be pretty good.
I've put in a few pins so far.
I love the way you can get a really low elevation and follow the roads and
    railways down valleys etc.
I haven't tried a lot of the features yet but intend to.

:P My house in Nuneaton is under a great cloud casting shadows over
most of Stockingford district. Quite realistic really, i like that sort of
    attention to detail!!!

I discovered it recently, and I've spent some time looking at it. It's very impressive. It's a pity that the resolution isn't better for so many areas, but perhaps that will change in the future.

The problem is, though, that I don't have broadband. And so it's oh so slow...
