Default Nominations for Committee Members 2019/2020

    Hello GAGB Members:

Nominations for GAGB Committee for 2018/2019 will be accepted Friday-Friday, 1-8 November 2019.

All GAGB active members at the start of nominations are eligible to nominate another member or second a nomination. Members who have been nominated and seconded are asked to accept or decline their nomination in this thread. Please note that the recently revised GAGB Constitution states that "5c. Current Executive Members and the Chair shall not take part in nominations, however they may be nominated and may accept the nominations."

This means none of the current Committee members may make a nomination or second a nomination. However, non-Committee members may nominate a standing Committee member or second the Committee member's nomination.

Another change to the GAGB Constitution is that any inactive member (a member that has not logged on to the forums for the past three years) may be nominated, but they will not be put forward to election unless they accept their nomination before the acceptance deadline of Saturday, 9 November 2019.

This thread will be closed at the end of the nominations period and anyone who has not been seconded and accepted during this period will not be considered as a candidate for election.

The Election for the Committee will be held during Saturday-Sunday, 16-24 November 2018.

Candidates for the Committee are requested to send their manifesto, photo (passport style, I can crop the photo for you if you need help) and geocaching avatar (if you have one) to me, Michael Malvick (Ladybug Kids), GAGB Independent Returning Officer (ladybugs@geocachealaska.org) by midnight, Saturday, 9 November 2019.

After the nomination period closes, nominee manifestos, photos, and avatars will be posted in a locked ‘Candidates for 2018/2019 Committee Elections' thread as well as on the ballot so you may read about why each candidate is standing for election and the skills they will bring to the Committee if elected.

A ‘Committee Candidates (2019/2020) - Q&A’ thread will be open during Sunday-Friday, 10-15 November leading up to the election where Members may ask the Candidates about their GAGB goals.

More information about the annual elections can be found in the GAGB Constitution (Section N).

In the meantime, it is important that you work with your internet service provider (ISP) and set your e-mail filters to white list e-mails coming from the gagb.org.uk, geocachealaska.org and surveymonkey.com domains so you receive election news and ballots.

    At your service,

    Michael Malvick/Ladybug Kids
    GAGB Returning Officer

P.S. Please accept my apologies for opening this thread about two hours late. A series of work and family mini-crises kept me away from the keyboard until now.

I would like to nominate two new people please. I hope that's not being greedy:
    • Amber Merry
    • Chris Carpenter

I think they've each got skills that GAGB need, and I hope they thrive on the committee!

I've spotted two others that I think would be god on the committee. I'd like to nominate:
    • Jenn Hill (Jenn the funky Ranger) for her linguistic and writing abilities
    • Debs Griffiths (happygirlie), is very organised, great with detail in Seeker proofing, and has been a GAGB Friend for ages!

Apparently I’ve been nominated to be on the executive committee of the GAGB…
Before I accept or decline, can I ask what exactly does this entail?
(I *really* don’t want to appear confrontational or antagonistic, but I really don’t know.
I’ve been active in caching locally in Kent for eight years, was voted Kent cacher of the year in 2015, run the Wherigo UK Facebook group, but I *very* rarely hear anything of or from the GAGB.
In fact the last time I heard anything was this time last year when some chap posted on the local Facebook geocaching page asking for people to vote for him
    ).

I nominated Dave as I believe he would be an asset to the Committee because of he’s an experience cacher as he has put above – Mr Wherigo and has good organisational skills as demonstrated by the events he has hosted and his caching days out …. also his scouting background

I would like to accept my nomination, thank you very much to those who have voted for me, I really appreciate it - it would be an honour to be on the GAGB committee and I hope to make you all proud if I were to be chosen!

I am from a creative background and for those who don't know, much of my photography practise links in with Geocaching - I'm currently working on the Creative Coast project; which has been great fun, meeting some incredible people along the way and I'm very much looking forward to see how my artistic flare/experiences can and will hopefully add too and be integrated with this amazing GeoTour!

    All the best,

    Amber (amberr.merry)

Thanks for nominations mollyjak and bacas... I would be happy to accept the nominations and stand should I be deemed suitable...

I have been geocaching since 2012 and am currently involved with the GAGB working on the upcoming Geotour... I also have created and admin for a couple of Facebook groups and spent a good few hours creating a google map of all the lab adventures in the world...

I hope I can bring something to the table and I am always happy to help out where I can...
again thanks for the nominations it’s really very appreciated and humbling.
