OKay lets have a serious question.

Any recommendations for a simple GPS for young teenager who wants her own GPS.

    Geko 101, Etrex?

Me I have an Etrex, it does for kite buggying and general caching, tramping etc. I wondered if there are better/simpler units.

She could pick up an Etrex for NZ$225 (around £75)

My great nephews have both used a Geko 101 with no problems, and the youngest, who was about nine when he first used it, learnt it very quickly. The only disadvantage of the 101 is that there's no facility to download waypoints, so they have to be entered manually. That's not a problem for occasional caching, but if she wants to do a lot in a day that could be time-consuming. A 201 might be better.

I've no experience of the Etrex, so I can't comment on that one.

Yep I looked at the Geko 101. I thought you could connect these to a pc?

The Etrex you can buy a £29 USB cable which is handy for downloading waypoints or transfering them to the pc.

No, it's the only one in the series with no data connection facility.
