I thought it would be fun to do a quiz
One of those kind Admin people is donating a small geocaching-related prize for the first correct answer drawn out of my best Sunday-Go-To-Meetings hat on Friday, 26th January, 5pm.

Remember the old days?* We had those quaint little coins known as :s:d. All you have to do is solve the money answers for each clue below, add them up and send only your Total amount to me by email.

I haven't answered yet, since I was -20 when Decimal Day came about.

Let's see, can we use resources to answer?
If there was a competition for witty signatures, I'd come last.

The answers are... (with apologies for the awful puns : )....

s d

A man's name (Bob) ......................... 1. 00

A singer ("Tenor") ........................ 10. 0. 00

A very small pig (guinea) ................... 1. 1. 00

Leather worker (tanner) ..................... 6

Regal headdress (crown) ................... 5. 00

Unwell sea creature ("sick squid") ........ 6. 0. 00

A bicycle (penny farthing) .................. 1

A stone (14 pounds) .......................... 14. 0. 00

The Sun, Neptune, and Pluto ................
("three far things")

50% of ladies' underwear (Half a knicker*) 10. 00

Hit repeatedly (pound) 1. 00. 00

Part of a chimp's leg (ape knee)

and finally...
How much did it cost to send a postcard,
within GB, in July 1921? 1

_______________

A Grand Total of 32 17 10
_______________

*A storm of controversy arose over this apart (OK, a couple of people emailed a query) because the answer was 10 shillings but, if you want to be pedantic, it should be 50% of a pair of knickers, which would be 1. The Judge's decision is final: I decided to accept either answer. So 32.17.10 or 33.7.10 were both "right".

Oh.....

Did somebody want to know who the winner was?

Congratulations to Nick of sTeamTraen!

Your prize will be on its way to you soon
(Just as soon as we've searched our pockets...)

Sorry the tabulation's no good above. MrB tells me it's cos it's HTML and I could correct it all by...blah, blah, blah, blah... but did you really want to be hanging around 'til midnight for the answers?
