We have another nomination - Team Tate for either the chair, or committee - they are well known cachers who have on many occasions devoted time, and money, to the hobby. They ran the first ever 'fox hunt' down south, helped with the production of the inside out programme, helped out at the HCC event and much, much more.

Other people we would like to see on the committee are The Bramblers, Paul Blitz, Kuros, Merman - all these have shown thier devotion to geocaching and I feel would make good committee members.

Due to a few things happening in the last few days the number one thing being the fact that I have just got engaged to a wonderfull lass Diane. Dont worry it was as bigger shock to me as it might be to the rest of you. Also I am working on another project that will take up quite a bit of time over the next year. I feel that I have to decline my nomination for a place on the committee.
I would however urge Teasel to stand for election and he has my full support. GeocacheUK.com would not be where it is now without his tireless help and support.

Well I suppose if it's age that's needed I suppose I'd better offer to give it a go!

I hadn't realized that I had been nominated for the committee but now see how it came about - for committee I am sorry I don't feel able yet for the same reasons I declined nomination for the Chair.
And as all those I would have nominated have already been nominated and some have declined I will add none - except to regret that Moss felt unwilling.

Enjoy your caching!

As my original nominee has gone and got himself mixed up with a good lady and won't now be able to stand (she must be a VERY good lady ) I feel I should nominate someone else.

This time it is a man with age and experience a-plenty. He has spent a lifetime on committees and even now, in his dotage, he is heading up a local branch of a very well known national charity. Despite this he still has plenty of spare time on his hands. He knows the ins and outs of geocaching although tends to specialise in those with shorter walks (well he is getting on in years).

He has a unique sense of humour as can be experienced by anyone foolish enough to go caching with him or anyone who regularly listens to Terry Wogan on Radio 2 (listen out for Neil of Stevenage).

I'm talking about Lost in Sace of course.

Thank you for the nomination, Rincewind & Luggage.
We would be interested in joining the committee, hoping to add a bit of the family aspect and do have a variety of views!
Obviously, we can't join as a team, so Sarah would be the actual committee member as she has less outside commitments than Bob who does work longer hours & is involved with Hospital Radio. She would like to be involved having previously held an elected position on the committee of a charitable organisation so understands the workings of a committee environment.
We will decline the nomination for Chair, but are interested in a committee position.

The Merman could not be considered for the following reasons:
I spend half my life working nights and a large proportion of the rest of it in the USA with my fiancee. I feel that whoever takes the positions would need to be able to commit a fair amount of their spare time to the role, and I do not have that luxury.

Also I note that a fair amount of the nominees are from Hants or at least the south and I would like to see a few more nominations from other areas.

I should like to nominate Mike or Mandy from the Mollinis Crew or Nawtcher. They all get quietly on with the hobby down in Cornwall and are a credit to what in my opinion makes a good cacher. (that assumes they are members of GAGB?)

Can I just clarify what will happen when all nominations have been received? Will there be a vote and the highest 5 get the 5 committee places? Was there a decision on the single person V team issue? (Sorry if I missed something - it's more than likely I missed a few things)

I have kept quiet on the nominations purely because I don't really know anyone very well. Those that I do and would be happy to be in position have been nominated already.

Following such nice words from my father, I will stand, if required..........

Well, I've thought carefully about whether I can commit enough time to GAGB, and whether me taking a post on the committee would be in the best interests of geocaching, and I believe the answer is 'yes' on both counts. I also cannot see how maintaining a database of GC.com caches would present a conflict of interest when negotiating with landowners, or otherwise promoting geocaching.

I'm delighted to have been nominated for the committee and would like to stand.

I've just been scanning up and down the nominations and am amazed that nobody's yet nominated MCL for a committee post. He has a flair for mediation and calming down heated discussions, can think on his feet and put his views across both accurately and persuasively. All attributes that would make him ideal for promoting both GAGB to the geocaching community, and geocaching to the world at large.

Since my original nomination is now otherwise engaged :P, I'd like to nominate MCL for the committee.

<falls off chair backwards>

Ahem. Well thankyou Ian for those kind words. B) I will not dismiss the idea out of hand, but I need to seek counsel before giving my acceptance or rejection. Might as well start as I mean to go on!

Give me 48 hours to seek that counsel, and I'll post my answer here on Thursday night/Friday morning.
