There are 15 officially designated National Trails in England and Wales. They are long distance walking routes through the finest landscapes in the country. A few can be cycled and ridden. Most trails employ a dedicated Trail Officer who can be contacted about the Trail. There is a dedicated geocaching page for each trail on their website.
Geocaching is encouraged on National Trails. Most Trail officers are very keen to encourage development of geocache trails and occasionally ask for help from regular cachers with placing National Trail geocoins. They are happy to advise you on good locations for caches, and places to avoid.
Please be aware that National Trails follow public rights of way across private land. Trail officers can advise you on placing caches along the trail but will not always be able to give you landowner details. GAGB guidelines should always be followed.
