Geocaching in the News

Over the years, geocaching has received a large amount of coverage in the media. Below is a list of links where geocaching has been featured or mentioned in online articles, newspapers, magazines, radio broadcasts, television segments, and everything in between.

This list will grow over time following further research and submissions from our members. We hope that you enjoy looking through what we already have.

2023

28 August
BBC Radio 5 Live - The GAGB Committee received a request from BBC Radio5Live, to go the show and explain all about Geocaching to the host, Colin Murray. I volunteered (though I think everyone else would have been elsewhere!) to go on the show, the geocaching section started at midnight on Monday 28Aug 2023. I was one of 5 guests, the originator was a cacher named Will from Devon, and I was assisted by a GAGB Friend, Anna Fergusson (discodancingdiva) from London. The host also spoke to a geocaching podcaster, and a geologist, from the US. I enjoyed the experience of being on National Radio, and Colin was easy to talk to.

13 April
BBC Radio Somerset - Stoke Bunnies co-hosted a CITO Event at Chard Reservoir LNR with sjcf (Steve Farley). The event was combined with the Somerset District Council Countryside Ranger for the LNR, Hannah Stanton. During the event, a reporter from BBC Radio Somerset, Will Richards, arrived, and produced an article which was broadcast on the BBC Somerset Breakfast show, with Claire Carter.
