Description

In principle I have no objections to you undertaking this activity on any of the city council sites that the Countryside Section manages. A list of our locations can be found at the Carlisle Parks and Open spaces website.

Geocaches should be marked clearly with contact details eg the GAGB phone number (07092 040 416). Please abide by all the GAGB Geocaching guidelines when placing caches.

Carlisle City Council reserve the right to remove geocaches should this be necessary.

A map overlay (.kml) showing showing the areas covered can be downloaded here.

The map overlays can be downloaded and opened in Google Earth which is a free download for a PC and also as apps for Apple and Android. (N.B. These maps do not form part of any legal representation of land ownership and are created simply as a guide to areas for the purposes of placing a geocache container or marking an area where these are not permitted).

Application Process

Would everyone who wishes to place a geocache on Carlisle City Council land please contact Jonathan May - Countryside Officer on 01228 618552 or by e mail jonm@carlisle.gov.uk to seek approval prior to placement. Please include a description of the cache location and Ordnance Survey grid reference.
