10th April 2010 – Friends of Spiers CITO - GC24C11
Location: Southern Scotland
Collected: 80 bags of rubbish and two small trailer loads of unbaggable stuff!
Fantastic day. A local youth group had put out 5 new caches for the day (they came on line at mid-day) – the North Ayrshire Council Countryside Ranger (me) showed them how. I had over a 200 email contacts over the next few days – all (yes all) positive and most appreciative. A very friendly and eccentric bunch. Picnics on the front lawn and lots of home baking shared. This parkland is being restored and the CITO was the first major step in that plan. The Friends of Spiers helped with the organisation of the event. T’was pot onto the local webpapers.
The weather was superb and The Gang met up afterwards in a local pub and had a meal.
No plans as yet – but it was so successful that it would be a shame not to. Possibly at Kilbirnie Loch a few miles away.
