23rd May 2010 – Unnatural Selection - GC23C43
Location: North West England
Organiser: The Magna Defender
Attendees: 30
Collected: 30 square metres of this invasive plant cleared!
Summary:
The Unnatural Selection CITO event was quite a unique CITO event where the invasive Himalayan Balsam Plant was removed en masse from a local nature reserve in Chorley. This was accepted as a CITO event by the reviewers while we were planning the event on the forum. Together a group of 30 people cleared an area of 30 square metres of this invasive plant.
What next:
The rangers who organised the event were glad to have our help and cachers in the group expressed an interest in the event being an annual event. Depending on University situations next year I can definitely see another similar event going ahead that year.
