Numbers of yellow-legged Asian hornets have been growing steadily here over recent years. Geocachers searching for hidden items could be placed in direct contact with Asian hornets, and if they disturb a nest it could lead to a very serious situation. Geocachers are perfectly placed to be the eyes on the ground on this issue, and we can really help in keeping a watch for these invasive insects, so we’re asking everyone to download the Asian Hornet Watch app and log any suspected sightings, so that nearby nests can then be traced and disposed of by official authorities.
